“This sounds great, but you’re covering an awful lot here. Please know that when you begin this study, you might find yourself starting to talk about COVID and then, the next time you look up, you’re up to page 12. Once you immerse yourself in your subject, you should let your passion guide the way, and keep me informed if your field narrows.

This novel is a love story during the first world war. It makes you think of seeing the beautiful things during difficult times. What are instances you have seen or heard about that displayed the positives or provided an opportunity for escape in challenging periods? What does the relationship between Henry and Catherine symbolize? And what impact does their relationship have on how they view the war? Discussion from Farewell
Looking at chapter 2, it felt that there was a race between Quentin and time every now and then. To some extent, I believe that we all have viewed time as something bad at some point. Do you feel that time is an opponent which you have to beat or is it something that one can benefit from?Quentin was in most instances seen as an indivitual with high moral standards despite his shortcomings. What could be some of the reasons for Quentin’s decision to drown himself? I wonder what Quentin would be like if he was in Harvard today than in the 20th century. He an incest issue he claims was caused by religion and the standards at the time in the South that virgins are ashamed. Would modern standards and other new aspects of culture including the Internet help him or cause him to fall down this rabbithole even farther? How would other people such as Shreeve and Spoade would be like? Discussion from book of The Fury
