Assessment 1: Virtual Team Activity Personal Reflection Instructions
Individual Assessment (35% of final grade)
Length 1500 words (± 10%)
This is an individual report on elements for successful virtual team management and performance
(to include academic support and references for virtual teams). These elements for successful Virtual
Teams will be used to reflect on the on-line group activity, integrating insights from the literature.
The reflection should contain the following parts:
A brief introduction of the team activity (participation on the virtual team discussion boards):
This is to set the scene of the group project. This should be a brief introduction about the group
activity that includes:
• A very brief outline of the online activity
• Performance of the team (or how you think your team went completing the activity)
• Any critical incidents that you or your team faced (relevant to your analysis)
A discussion of elements for successful of virtual team management and performance:
This is a discussion of relevant knowledge and applications to group and teams of elements for
success specific to virtual teams. This should contain elements for virtual team management,
dynamics and performance, based on the academic literature, including relevant theory, concepts,
and frameworks relating to virtual teams. A minimum of 8 academic sources is required (You can
use the course readings on virtual teams provided).
A comparative reflection on your experience of your virtual team’s activity.
This is an analysis of the performance of your virtual team activity based on the identified elements
for successful virtual teams discussed above.
You could consider some of the questions:
• How did the team do it together?
o What worked well for the team
o What were the barriers/issues the team faced, and how were these overcome?
• What did I learn?
o If you were to repeat this team project what would you do differently next time?
