The Impact of Disease

When disease strikes, it not only affects the patient but often times their family, friends, and co-workers as well. The demand for testing, treatment, and recovery can be a long grueling process and will impact your social, professional, financial and personal aspects of life, among others.

In a 2-3 page paper, written in APA format, share an experience that you (or a friend) had with the effect of a disease/illness. Be sure to address the following:

Describe the situation.
Discuss the ways in which it impacted the people around the patient, including how the family or social dynamics may have changed.
Discuss how the disease impacted the patient’s life.
Describe their health status, were they healthy through the process?
Include health insurance costs and coverage in relationship to treatment.
Discuss how this experience or story affected you and how it may influence you future work with older adults.
