Description
Craft a memo to a specific policymaker(s) or policy implementer(s) urging them to take one or more specific actions in areas of education. As you craft your memo, consider the following:
•Audience: Specify the policymaker(s)/implementer(s) you are attempting to influence and address them directly. You should be able to email this memo directly to your audience without having to make any changes to it so write it in a way that specifically addresses a target individual or individuals.
•Your role: Identify yourself and how you are positioned on the issue. Include any particular knowledge, expertise, and/or experience that you bring to the issue. •Purpose: Your goal is to persuade the policymaker(s)/implementer(s) to accept your point of view. Thus, you must specifically state what it is that you want the policymaker(s)/implementer(s) to do and provide strong, persuasive information or evidence to support your position. Make sure the policymaker(s)/implementer(s) you are addressing have the authority to do what it is that you are asking them to do.
•Format: Presentation should be in the format of a memo and should be no more than 3-5 pages maximum, including the references. You should assume your audience is busy and receives a number of these memos each week. Your memo should be clear and concise so that your audience is inclined to actually read it!
