Research Design and Ethics
Mark, a fictional member of this class, is planning to conduct a qualitative research project concerning the causes of burnout in the project managers of his organization. Mark is a project manager for ARCO’s Oil and Gas Exploration Division. He is interested in the lived experience of the other three project managers at the same level in ARCO Alaska’s operation.
A project manager oversees an exploration project from beginning to end. His specific duties are as follows:
He works to coordinate the work of technical experts (e.g., geologists geophysicists, petroleum engineers) that inform the progress of an oil prospect.
He monitors the project’s budget.
He ensures that needed materials are delivered to the drilling site in a timely manner.
He also serves as the liaison between the drilling company and ARCO.
