An introduction that explains the topic of the essay to the reader and presents a thesis (what you will argue in the paper);
At least four body paragraphs where you argue whether or not the argument works for the (1) audience, (2) topic, (3) purpose, and (4) context (you don’t have to put them in this order, but all four need to be addressed);
A conclusion where you restate your thesis and offer “so what”–why does your argument matter?
